Effects of harvest date on fruit and seed characteristics of sea buckthorn

Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.), cv. Indian-Summer fruits grown in Saskatchewan, Canada were harvested on different dates evaluated for fresh fruit weight, moisture level, soluble solids, ascorbic acid, and carotenoids. Seeds obtained from harvested fruits were evaluated for weight, moisture and oil content. Harvest date had significant effects on fruit weight, soluble solids, ascorbic acid, lutein, ß-carotene, total carotenoids, and seed moisture content. was affected by harvest date. Fruit lycopene and moisture contents, seed weight, and oil content of seeds will not affected by harvest date.
